This group is dedicated to Alekander Alekhine. Alexander Alekhine became the 4th ever World Champion, with a victory over Jose Raoul Capablanca, once considered invincible, in 1927. Alekhine is considered by many to be one of the best chess players to ever live. Alekhine dominated the the game of chesss for over a decade, with many contributions. His games were strategic, powerful, tactical, and unique beyond his peers. To this day, he is the only player who died while still in possession of the World Champion title. In 1946, at the young age of 53, Alexander Alekhine was found slumped in his chair in a hotel room; his death has always been a mystery. He was champion from the first time he won it, and carried his title until the day he died, still as a champion, only losing once in 1935 before regaining his throne in 1937. A legend of the game.
