Roman Shogdzhiev is a Russian-born chess player who made news in late 2023, at the age of eight years old, by defeating five grandmasters at the 2023 World Rapid and Blitz Championships. Overall, he scored 14/34 in both grandmaster-heavy fields, and raised his rapid FIDE rating by nearly 200 points. He was also the 2023 World Under-8 Champion.
