Maxime_Vachier-Lagrave3.jpgMaxime Vachier-Lagrave (pictured) won the 2011 French Chess Championships with a score of 7/11, half a point ahead of four challengers in a close contest.

Vachier-Lagrave won three games and remained undefeated to take the title.

The 20-year old Vachier-Lagrave is the #1 ranked French player and this isn't his first senior national title - he previously won the championship back in 2007 as a 16 year-old!

Vachier-Lagrave was also the 2009 World Junior Champion and is currently ranked at #22 in the world.
