Petrosian Wins Armenian Champs
The 2012 Armenian Chess Championships were held from 11-22 January in the capital city Yerevan.
The format was an 11-player round-robin competition, and 27 year-old Tigran L Petrosian (pictured) won the title for the first time with a score of 7/11.
Tigran was named after the former world chess champion (1963-69) Tigran Petrosian by his father, and despite having a lot to live up to, Tigran L has achieved great success in his own right!
The two Tigran's are also linked by Chess.com's Melikset Khachiyan, who coached the young Tigran L, and was coached himself by the great world champion Tigran!
