Etienne Bacrot Wins Baden-Baden Open
While Vishy Anand was winning the 6-player double round-robin Grenke Chess Classic in Baden-Baden recently, a 9-round Swiss competition was taking place alongside the main event.
The winner was top seeded Etienne Bacrot (pictured) of France with a 7/9 score, half a point clear of Parimarjan Negi, Ruben Felgaer and Tornike Sanikidze.
A total of 34 players took part, and Bacrot won €2,000 for his first-place finish.
The time control was 40 moves in 120 minutes, followed by 30 minutes to finish the game.
