Adams Eases To 2010 British Title
Michael Adams cruised to an expected victory in the 97th British Chess Championships in Canterbury.
Adams started with five straight wins and never looked like being caught, finishing with an undefeated score of 9.5/11.
Although securing Adams' participation was a coup for the organisers, it diminished the tournament as a contest since he out-rated the field by around 150 Elo points.
There is better news for next year's event, with the announcement by the president of the English Chess Federation, C J De Mooi, of the promised participation of the top four rated British players - Adams, Short, McShane and Howell.
The women's title was secured by Jovanka Houska for the third year in succession, finishing on 6.5/11.
