Hello Chess Friends!

I am available for online lessons.

My name is Máté Egresi, I was born in 1999. I graduated as a teacher of mathematics and physics in 2024. I am a FIDE Master from Hungary, I earned my title in December 2016.

I play a lot of openings which means that probably I can help you improve your repertoire without changing it too much. I play 1.d4, 1.e4 or sometimes 1.Nf3 as White, play 1...d5 or 1...Nf6 against 1.d4 and 1...c5, 1...c6 or even 1...d6 against 1.e4 when I'm Black. However, I might also help you in openings I don't play.

A few words about my latest results:

I have earned my first IM norm in December 2023:

Since then I won an invitational tournament, where I only needed 0,5 poins more to complete the IM norm:

I have been teaching students since the age of 14. First I usually taught small groups of children and helped preparing my brother.
2 years ago I got my first request to teach a child who is in the national top 5 in their age group. Since then I have got more requests and I already have several students with whom I really like to work together.

For a long time, I have been proud of only my defensive skills. However, recently I have started to develop my attacking skills at full pelt. In my opinion, I am quite balanced now.

I'm excellent in opening preparation, my opponents usually only want to survive the first period of the game. I'm also decent in most endgames, I know a lot of theretical positions or typical maneuvers. My biggest weakness that sometimes I wonder too much in the middlegame and wasting my time, it is something I should really work on.

I would like to use Skype for the lessons (except if you are living near me and we can meet in person).

As I mentioned above, I'm a graduated teacher and I have learned a lot of useful things at the university. For example, my lessons are always interactive because I like to test my students' understanding with tricky questions.

The rate of a 60-minutes lesson is 30$.
